My 5th Grade Year

I’m just going to start off with WOW! This school year has been so successful and very amazing. I’m just going to do like a timeline of events that happened this school year. The first day of school we just went over rules and safety and CHAMPS. We also had to sign a contract in Mr. McBride’s class to promise to always have lab safety. In September, we got a day off because it was Labor Day. We learned a lot about Labor Day in Mrs. McFall’s class. October….. Mr. McBride’s class was a lot of fun in this month! He had a Scream mask in his room and we watched Goosebumps sometimes when we had free time. On Halloween night, I went through his Haunted Garage and it was really fun. Mrs. Boo even went through with me! November was Thanksgiving month and we got 1 whole week off of school! We did a lot of Pilgrim things and we took grades on Moodle Lessons. December was one of the most funnest month ever! We got 2 weeks off of school to celebrate Christmas and the birth of Baby Jesus. In Mrs. Brantley’s class, we made these cute paper chains for the kids in Africa. My friend had her birthday in December too! We had a dress-up week that was fun. I had to start working really hard in this month since competition starts in January. January came and I had to get used to writing 2017 on my papers. We got less Recess in this month because of the weather. It was really cold outside! We did a lot of hard working things in each class so we could be prepared for benchmarks and STAAR tests. In February my other friend had her birthday and we had a Valentine’s Party and we made these cute hearts in Mrs. Boo’s class and we wrote our name and then we put a word that describe’s that person. This was also a benchmark month. Next is March, it was still kinda cold outside but it was getting closer to Fall. We got 1 week off of school for Spring Break. It was from March 13th through March 17th. Next is April, my friend had her birthday in April. I also performed my 2nd Passion Project which was the similarites and differences from Dance and Twirl. We didn’t have school on April 14th because it was Good Friday. We had our Easter Party April 13th. We also didn’t have school April 17th due to Bad Weather Day so we got a 4 day weekend!! We also had a STARR test in April. Next is the last month May! We had class pictures May 1st and that was my friends birthday! We had our last STAAR test on May 10th. We had a field trip that Friday. We went to Kidsview Park and G-Force. I learned my frontwalkover and landed my areial a lot of times at G-Force. Mrs. Boo even did some backflips and back-handsprings!! May 16th we visited the Middle School and we got a tour so we knew where to go next year so we couldn’t get lost even though I still will! Lol. May 19th was our last Field Day with Coach Underwood. It was a blast! That next Tuesday was my birthday! Which was yesterday. I’m now 11 years old. It’s now Wednesday May 24th and we only have 3 days of school left til Summer! I’m super excited. Well, I’ve enjoyed 5th Grade so much and thanks for reading bye!

Good-bye 5th Grade

  1. The thing I liked about 5th grade was all of the fun that we had with the teachers but what I liked most was our field day with all of the water and the slipping slide, our field trip because I love G-Force and I learned my front-walkover and landed my Aerial.
  2. I learned so much about the decades, I really liked learning about The Depression, when JFK got assassinated in Dallas, Tx.
  3. The advice that I give the 4th graders is to not talk in the hallways and be CHAMPS! Always show respect to the teachers because they do a lot for you.

Dear Mrs. LaRue. Letters from Obedience School

Dear Ike,

I am very confused why you are dramatic sometimes. You make things sound worse than what’s actually happening. Like that time you were sick and was being dragged by people in jail when you were really in a nice, comfy bed at home, but you’re not a bad dog at all. I am very happy to have you as a pet. You can be a little weird but that’s ok. You write a lot of letters and  they all are funny.

From your owner,

Mrs. LaRue

My Tragic Day

It all started after school when I was in the car pick-up line. I thought it would be a regular day but it wasn’t. My grandpa picked me up instead of my mom, but I thought maybe my mom got held back at work or something. I wasn’t worried. When we parked at the High School to pick up my sister, he told me my mom had been in a accident. My heart immediately felt like it dropped to my stomach. My very first words were; “Is she ok?!”. Then he said she was fine, but her car was messed up and she would have to be taken to the hospital. As soon as my sister got in the car, I was crying when my grandpa told her. We headed straight to the hospital! When we got there my grandma and my dad where already there. We went to go see my mom in the room and she looked tired, but I was happy to see that she was ok. I asked her if she was the problem or if someone else hit her. She said someone was trying to get in another lane but slid on ice and hit her car. She ran into a small wall and messed up her door, left light bulb, and left tire. After a couple of minutes at the hospital I gave her a huge hug and told her I loved her and that I was so blessed that she was ok. I love her so much and she is the best mom ever. The End.

Reader Theater Reaction

After I read the Reader Theater and the passage about Child Labor, I was very shocked to hear some things I heard. The Triangle Terror was about a fire that happened in Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in New York City and in March 1911. It killed 146 workers! These girls named Nell, Clara, Hannah, and the Narrator told us all about it. It was very sad to read. Next was Child Labor or Child’s Work. Jennifer, Dennis, Molly, Jacob, and the Narrator told us some things. Children my age had to work very hard. They got paid, but not very much. They weren’t required to go to school. It was optional. Thanks for listening to my reaction. Bye!
